ASDMA’s response to the fire door issue identified at Grenfell Tower

There have been many news reports in recent days regarding the fact that the Metropolitan Police have commissioned a fire test on a door assembly from within Grenfell Tower. Please be aware that ASDMA are following this up and are actively seeking more information to enable us to understand, firstly the type of door assembly and secondly the mode of failure.

Note that we are in contact with the Authorities and that we will continue to keep in touch to determine the facts as they apply, when they are available.

Please note the reference below to the latest information from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

ASDMA has long emphasised the importance of best practice in the design, construction and installation of doors for fire and smoke control.  Please note the detailed guidance in the Knowledge Section of our website.
