Home Membership Publications Contact ASDMA ASDMA is a member of the Passive Fire Protection Federation	ASDMA was formed in 1990 with membership made up of companies who manufacture specialist timber doors. Many had been founder members of the TRADA QA Scheme for fire doors. With the advent of the single European market and the implications for both suppliers and consumers, it was felt essential to have a specialist association which would further the interests of the manufacturers ensuring that they were represented on: British, European and International technical and standards making committees appropriate economic and political forums affecting the door industry contractual bodies With representation on these various bodies ASDMA membership has its finger on the pulse of Europe, ensuring that the products they supply comply with current and new regulations and standards safeguarding the interests of their clients. MEMBERSHIP Membership is drawn from door manufacturers who offer a wide range of bespoke products. Associate membership categories represent manufacturers and fabricators of components used in specialist door assemblies such as hardware, glazing and seals, as well as those companies which specialise in the installation of performance doorsets. There is also a sponsoring member category for organisations which are involved in related activities such as testing and/or certification. AIMS In the interests of its members and their clients the association aims to promote: the safety benefits to be gained by users of independently tested and quality assured doors which meet all the requirements of fire resistance, safety and other performance criteria the development of workable standards, incorporating the best of British Standards, technology and usage in European and International Standards and Regulations the acceptance of fair and reasonable conditions of purchase or contract an understanding of commercially acceptable quality standards ASDMA is a member of the Passive Fire Protection Federation which works to ensure that the benefits of "built in" fire protection are recognised and understood, and to promote the importance of good practice and accurate fitting of elements. CURRENT WORK The move towards a single European market raises issues of particular importance to specialist door manufacturers and their clients. ASDMA safeguards its members' interests and clients' current freedom of choice through its representation on: British, European and International technical and standards making committees economic and political and regulatory forums that affect the door industry and liaisons with contractual bodies.
